Talk with a Psychologist

Psychologists use their knowledge and training in human behaviour and emotion to help people bring about change in their feelings, thoughts, behaviours and attitudes. They also offer support and information and can provide assistance with learning different ways of coping with life’s challenges.

People see psychologists for a wide range of issues. These may include stress, work related issues, health problems, relationship or family difficulties, feelings of depression or low mood, loneliness, anger or irritability, sexual difficulties, breaking habits (e.g. smoking), sleep problems, loss of confidence, difficulties concentrating, problems relaxing, anxiety or worry, childhood problems, feeling easily upset, grief, and many other issues.

Talking with a Psychologist is an opportunity for you to talk about issues that you are having difficulty with in a safe, non-judgmental, and confidential environment. It provides you with an opportunity to explore different ways of dealing with issues and to learn new strategies to manage them. Psychologists are trained in a number of different techniques proven to assist people to cope with a range of issues.

To provide you with the best possible assistance it may be necessary to talk with your GP or other health professionals involved in your care. Your permission to do this will always be discussed with you.
